THE IEEE 1394 STANDARD
The DFW series are fully digital colour cameras which, adopts the "IEEE1394-1995 (Fire Wire) standard. Through the IEEE1394-1995 high performance serial bus.
these cameras provides high quality images and many features which ordinary cameras can not do. The DFW-cameras presents 30 frames per second in VGA
(640 x 480) format , Non compressed YUV Digital output.. The high-speed, non-proprietary, scalable serial bus output is able to transport data at rates of 100,200
and 400 Mbits per second. It gives computers and computerbased systems a universal method of connecting computer peripherals and consumers electronic
products into single, simple, bus. The interface standard provides compatibility between peripherals such as cameras, printers, hard disk drives and scanners.
Up to 63 items of equipment can be linked together on a network.
THE TECHNOLOGY OF IEEE 1394
The technology of IEEE1394 has no direct link to a specific video format such as PAL or NTSC. Instead, it features a high sampling accuracy (for jitter-free sampling)
which gives a picture quality and accuracy of colour transmission that have never been possible with analogue systems. With IEEE1394, the camera CCD output
is digitally transmitted into memory with a direct pixel-to-pixel correspondence that makes A/D conversion unnecessary. The connection uses a very light cable
fitted with a small 6-pin connector. The bus enables true `plug and play` and `hot plugging`so that the user can connect new devices with the system switched on
and the bus active. IEEE1394 is made even more powerful by using multiple channels and isochronous (real time) and asynchronous data at the same time.,
transmitting control signals as well as audio and video data simultaneously. No other digital bus has the ability to bring real-time video and audio to the desktop
while providing the user with flexible, cost effective and expandable connectivity.
